Teach Me To Be Healthy
Health hasn’t always been one of the most important things to me. I often forgot all about my health many times. I would eat whatever I wanted, because I wanted to. I would barely sleep. I would never exercise. I would bottle things up. Im sure there were many more things I did or didn’t do that caused me to be even more unhealthy.
For a while it was ok. I wasn’t doing good, but I was still fully functional. But over time I started to detoriate and after a while it got to my mental state as well. Started to get depressed, started to believe I wasn’t capable of much and eventually started to just want to stay in bed all day and bathe in my own hell constantly. Looking back I can’t believe I actually sat through it all without doing something for so long.
Then a change came and ever since I do my best to be healthy on all fronts because it’s way the I get the most done and it’s what allows me to go after my dreams. The last couple weeks I have been realizing it even more. Everyday I wake up with a full night of sleep, exercise and eat right, shower, work hard, push through, relax, reflect, decompress, sleep.
I’ve come to realize how important it is to be healthy if I want to make a difference and be someone to achieve the dreams I see ahead of me. Going after what you want takes an insurmountable about of work and an untold amount of determination in order to get past all the hurdles and the obstacles that lay in front of you.
You can’t over them without being healthy. You can’t beat them without making sure you are at your best every day. You can’t get to the light at the end of the tunnel when your body is prepared for the day with the tools you need to get there.
So is it easy? not really. Many days I would rather just eat whatever and whenever I want. Some days I’d rather not get much sleep. Somedays I’d rather just sit around in the dumps after a failure. But it’s not what’s best for the people who want to Be more then they were the day before.
Now I’m not saying we can’t have nights where we have a good time, or days where we lounge around. We also need those days. We need days where we can eat the greasy stuff and days with ice cream. We need all nighters with good friends and week long vacations where we screw health and have a good time.
But for all the other days? Stay Healthy…

I just recently learned that same lesson. I’ve started devoting more time, energy, focus and money towards my health. It’s pretty crazy when you think about how much time and money go towards tv but then we can’t find either to get in shape. Thanks for sharing!
I know exactly what your talking about. Even though I am doing a lot better at it now it still amazes me that there is only a small line between healthy and unhealthy and I always feel like I’m only a few steps away from backsliding.
